german pharmaceutical company entering benin

THE Customer: A German Healthcare organization

THE CHALLENGE

Our client, an internationally active healthcare organization with an established footprint in multiple African markets, aimed to expand its pharmaceutical distribution activities into Benin. While initial market hypotheses and strategic assumptions were already available, key uncertainties remained regarding their real-world validity. Critical questions included the feasibility of the proposed distribution model, the reliability of local partners, regulatory dynamics, and the overall economic viability of the market entry. Without a clear and tested go-to-market approach, the client faced challenges in translating their expansion plans into a profitable and operational market entry.

OUR SERVICE

To address the challenge, AVA followed an iterative approach, continuously validating key market hypotheses with local partners and on-the-ground experts. The focus was on understanding core market dynamics, including distribution structures, regulatory requirements, and contractual frameworks. In parallel, on the basis of the most promising medications for market entry, AVA developed a business case incorporating multiple pricing and market scenarios to assess the economic viability and support informed decision-making.

THE RESULT & OUTLOOK

The client gained a validated foundation for entering the new market, including an assessment of initial hypotheses, an overview of market dynamics, a business case analysis and a review and refinement of contractual frameworks, which eventually reduced strategic and operational uncertainty. Furthermore the business case supported robust decision-making, whereas the clarified contractual setup strengthened the client´s ability to manage and commit to local partnerships effectively.
