SOURCING PARTNERS FOR CERTIFIED DRIED FRUITS AND NUTS IN AFRICA
THE Customer: A German Importer of dried fruits and nuts
THE CHALLENGE
Our client, a German importer and distributor of organically certified dried fruits and nuts, was looking to expand its sourcing base in African countries. Rising sales volumes and growing demand for certified products made it essential to secure reliable new supply relationships. The challenge was navigating a complex and intransparent landscape. Many producers had limited online visibility, certifications were often incomplete, and building the trust needed for long-term supply partnerships required more than only an E-Mail. It required expertise, personal networks, and a structured approach to qualify potential suppliers.
OUR SERVICE
AVA developed a multi-layered sourcing approach combining direct producer outreach, engagement of industry multipliers such as machinery manufacturers, and targeted contact with trade organizations and associations. All outreach was adapted in language, tone, and channel to each potential partner, with regular follow-ups and personal introductions where possible. Every contact was documented and categorized based on volume, certification, and export capabilities.
THE RESULT & OUTLOOK
AVA screened many companies and delivered a qualified longlist of promising partners. Initial conversations with the most relevant contacts were prepared and facilitated by AVA, giving the client a warm introduction and a solid foundation for building long-term supply relationships. The process also generated clear strategic insights, namely that offtake agreements can be an effective tool to unlock certification processes, as well as personal trust-building remains an important factor in successful African sourcing partnerships.
The client visited the most promising suppliers in the african country and is currently in contractual negotiations.
