MARKET ENTRY FOR A CLIMATETECH STARTUP IN NAMIBIA
THE Customer: A German Climate tech startup
THE CHALLENGE
Our client, a German ClimateTech startup specializing in the analysis of biogenic raw materials and the development of long-term carbon storage projects, identified Namibia as a key growth market. The country offers large amounts of invasive biomass - ideal conditions for carbon sequestration projects. However, entering the market came with a complex set of challenges, such as identifying qualified laboratory partners for biomass analysis, navigating customs and import regulations for measurement equipment and wood samples, securing project financing in an investment landscape with a notable funding gap for mid-range ticket sizes, and determining the right legal structure for a local entity.
OUR SERVICE
AVA supported the client in two consecutive consulting phases. In the first phase, AVA confirmed Namibia's market potential through on-the-ground research and network validation, identified a certified laboratory partner in South Africa for biomass analysis, and clarified customs and import regulations with local authorities and logistics providers. In the second phase, AVA ran a structured investor outreach across its network, resulting in partnerships with investorsready to co-finance projects, while simultaneously analyzing legal entity options and delivering a step-by-step incorporation guide recommending a Private Limited Company (Pty.) as the most suitable long-term structure.
THE RESULT & OUTLOOK
The client now has a clear operational and legal foundation for its Namibian market entry. A qualified laboratory partner has been identified, customs processes are understood, and logistics options evaluated. The investor outreach generated concrete investments and key insights into the financing landscape, including how to position the pipeline of future projects to overcome the mid-range funding gap and result in finding the suiting investors. With a recommended legal structure and a practical incorporation guide in hand, the client is well-prepared to establish a local presence and move its carbon storage projects forward.
