Building an AFRICAN EdTech Venture

THE Customer: African Entrepreneurship: Co-Building an EdTech Venture

THE CHALLENGE

The founders of dorKk approached us with a powerful vision: to democratize access to high-quality education in South Africa, where unequal access to learning resources is a critical issue. However, their initial concept, while promising, needed structured development.

The challenge wasn’t just about addressing the vast educational needs, it involved transforming an early-stage idea into a viable and scalable venture. This included proving the concept's viability, establishing a clear operational approach, and rapidly developing substantial content to meet the demand for accessible, high-quality learning materials in a complex market.

OUR SERVICE

As entrepreneurial advisors who build with our clients from the ground up, Africa Ventures Advisory (AVA) partnered with dorKk's founders not just as advisors, but as temporary co-founders and active co-builders. Dr. Christian Lindfeld, founder of AVA, was instrumental in this hands-on journey:

THE RESULT

Our unique co-founding and hands-on venture building approach transformed an early-stage idea into a robust EdTech solution. Under AVA's direct leadership, dorKk successfully launched its platform, becoming a significant player in South African education.

The production of over 10,000 high-quality educational videos and the rapid growth to a four-digit number of users demonstrate the profound impact and scalability achieved. This project perfectly exemplifies how AVA directly leverages its entrepreneurial expertise to not just advise, but to actively build, validate, and accelerate impactful ventures from the ground up in Africa.
