Market Entry For Electronic Goods Distributer
THE Customer: an internationally active german distributer for electronic goods
THE CHALLENGE
The client, an internationally active company with strong export experience, is now planning a first structured market entry into West African Markets. While the opportunity is attractive, the client faced two core uncertainties: (1) operational feasibility (import requirements, customs processes, logistics and transport reliability across target countries) and (2) commercial viability (whether demand, pricing, and margins would justify the effort and risk of entering the region). In short, the challenge was to move from a general growth ambition to a clear, evidence-based go/no-go decision and an actionable entry pathway.
OUR SERVICE
To address this, we designed and executed a multi-track approach, running several workstreams in parallel. On the operational side, we assessed the end-to-end export setup, including import and customs requirements, documentation needs, and logistics options, and validated key assumptions with relevant experts. In parallel, we conducted market and partner work to identify reliable local counterparts and evaluate routes to market. On the commercial side, we built an initial business case, stress-testing key numbers such as cost blocks, pricing logic, and margin potential to evaluate whether a pilot setup would be economically sound. This combination allowed us to test strategic fit and operational feasibility at the same time, rather than sequentially.
THE RESULT & OUTLOOK
The client now has a trusted set of vetted partners and a practical framework to launch a pilot project in West Africa. With these partners, the client can validate demand, processes, and collaboration quality under real market conditions before committing to a long-term setup. Overall, the project significantly reduced market entry uncertainty by combining partner readiness with a grounded operational and economic evaluation. Ultimately, this created a robust basis for deciding whether a scalable, long-term presence makes sense.
